NASA Glenn Research Center and Plum Brook Station
Cleveland is home to one of ten NASA Centers. And as NASA Glenn’s community advocate, the Greater Cleveland Partnership serves to bring attention to the assets, needs, efforts and accomplishments of the Center and its testing facility Plum Brook Station. By working not only with the Northeast Ohio Delegation, but the entire Ohio Delegation, the GCP is able to advocate for Glenn and the NASA mission of space exploration, aeronautics and research that results in economic development, drives research and development, and inspires our youth in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
9,000 Foot Runway at Plum Brook Station
The Greater Cleveland Partnership, working with Glenn leadership, is spearheading the effort to construction a 9,000 foot runway at Plum Brook Station, located in Sandusky, OH. Working with local officials in Cuyahoga and Erie Counties, as well as Huron County, the GCP has been able to build a consensus of support for the project, which will further the NASA mission, while facilitate job creation and economic development.
Estimated at a cost of $80 million, a range of resources and partnerships will be needed. Working on the local, state and federal levels, the GCP is constructing a plan to fund the project through a local support, the State of Ohio, federal appropriations and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
